Real Ale
Water. Malts. Hops. Yeast. Such a simple combination with the potential to produce a near infinite palate of flavours.
Thousands of guest ales have flowed through our pumps over the years.
With the beer market producing an ever increasing range of brews we are always trying new stuff - as well as revisiting some fan favourites from time to time!
Our first guest pump usually has something pale and refreshing on it. Past and present favourites include:
Wye Valley HPA, Thornbridge Jaipur, Castle Rock Harvest Pale, Tring Liberator, Oakham Celeste, BTB Bobby’s Tipple, Hopback Summer Lightning, Redemption Trinity, Vocation Heart & Soul and many, many others!
Our HOUSE BITTER is the ever wonderful Harvey’s Sussex Best.
A superbly balanced bitter with prominent hop character.
“Using a blend of four local hops, water filtered through the Sussex Downs over 30 years, and Harvey's unique 60 year old yeast strain, Harvey's Best Bitter is the embodiment of Sussex.”
The second guest pump typically turns towards the dark side. Top picks encompass:
Mighty Oak Oscar Wilde, Theakston Perculier Assassin, Titanic Plumb Porter, Moorhouse Black Cat, Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby, Fivepoints Railway Porter, Tiny Rebel Night Hawk, Thornbridge Imperial Stout; and more!
